Green Matters. In order to practice environmental stewardship, Island Dog Signs has made it a goal to incorporate sustainable and environmentally friendly products and processes into our daily business.

When looking to purchase our large format digital printer, Island Dog selected the Roland Eco-Sol SC540, whose solvent-based inks exhaust NO volatile organic compounds (VOC's). VOCs are a prime industrial pollutant, and a significant contributor to air quality degradation. VOCs are increasingly being restricted and regulated in states with poor air quality, such as California .

We are also taking steps to incorporate low VOC paints in our fabrication processes. A Matthews Paint System mixing station retains all the durable properties of the standard Matthews Paint system also meets California's strict regulations for VOC emissions.

When designing with metal, we seek to use metals with a high percentage of recycled material. Island Dog recycles excess fabrication materials or uses them in new projects to reduce landfill waste. When designing, thought is given to materials and sign sizes to use product efficiently. Some of the more unique green materials available to use in signage are bamboo, cork, recycled glass, MDF, Richlite and Dakota Burl (pressed sunflower shell board). All products that qualify are recycled monthly.
